Ava Mir-Ausziehen is a self-identified ‘sex nerd’ and shameless smut enthusiast. She has a bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies in Sexuality, completed the Amsterdam Graduate School of Social Sciences Summer Institute on Sexuality, Culture and Society, and holds Masters degrees in both Public Health and Medical Anthropology. She worked and volunteered with an HIV/AIDS service centre for six years, developing an exceptionally vulgar dental dam demonstration that became infamous among students. She is a presiding sex expert writing for Sssh.com, an erotic journal by and for women, and draws much of her expertise from over 10 years of work in the adult industry, both behind and in front of the camera. Her doctoral research will investigate how public health discourse is being used within the adult industry to police ideas, rather than acts, that are seen as ‘unhealthy’.
